- ALA-accredited master’s degree in library and information science or international equivalent
- Demonstrated ability to teach research skills to large and small groups, individuals, and online learners.
- Experience using research resources that support engineering, physical sciences, mathematics, or computer science
- Demonstrated ability to create web-based instructional tools, such as tutorials, guides, and other resources; awareness of the principles of universal design and accessibility
- Ability to demonstrate cultural humility and inclusivity when working with students, and enthusiasm for working with learners of varying backgrounds
- Understanding of the opportunities and roles for the library in advancing campus initiatives related to equity, inclusion, and social justice, especially in the context of STEM fields
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, collaboratively, and manage time effectively
- Evidence of excellent interpersonal communication skills
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- A second advanced degree is preferred, and will be required for granting tenure
- A minimum of one to three years of academic library experience

Duty/Responsibility
- Supports all levels of research, education, and engagement in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences by developing ongoing collaborative relationships and partnerships with faculty, students, and staff in all CEPS departments and related centers, programs, and institutes.
- Develops, enhances, and provides subject-specific information literacy instruction to the EPS community through both in-person and online formats; participates in the library’s instruction program; develops accessible learning materials for student and faculty use
- Provides in-person and online research consultations to students, faculty, staff, other researchers, and the general public; may participate in other relevant research support and instruction activities; assists users in the discovery of specialized formats such as standards, technical reports, data, and grey literature.
- Develops effective outreach strategies to promote research services; works individually and collaborates with others to develop and promote awareness and knowledge of information resources and services.
- Works collaboratively with teaching and research faculty, the Collection Strategy Librarian, and other library faculty and staff, to develop and manage the library’s collections in all formats for CEPS departments.
- Creates online and digital content with existing and emerging tools and technologies; produces a variety of informational and instructional materials, including web-based research guides, tutorials, and modules, and other learning tools as needed, as appropriate for synchronous or asynchronous learning.
- Works collaboratively with Scholarly Communication Librarian to support library scholarly communication initiatives; educates, advises, and supports researchers in examining scholarly communication issues arising in their work
- Works collaboratively with the Research Data Services Librarian and CEPS researchers to support data management best practices and the development of data literacy skills.
- Aligns CEPS library spaces, services and technologies with current and emerging learning, teaching, and research needs, adapting them to encourage and enhance student/faculty collaboration and success; envisions new ways of integrating digital technologies and enrichment learning opportunities with student cohorts and communities of scholars through technological accessibility and experimentation
- Collaborates with library staff and students who manage the daily operations of the branch science libraries.
- Stays current with developments in librarianship and assigned subject areas through review of professional literature, networking, and active participation in state, regional, and national meetings, conferences, etc.
- Demonstrates multicultural competence (including an awareness and understanding of historically minoritized populations, especially in STEM fields) and contributes to a work environment that affirms its commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
